Tomorrow the European Football Championship will kick off in Paris. During the upcoming month 51 matches between 24 European countries will take place all over France with one goal: The honour of being the European Champion for the next four years.

You might think, what does that have to do with Eurovision? But there is a lot of ways to compare the European Championship with the Eurovision Song Contest. 20 of the participating nations were also represented at the Eurovision Song Contest.

Eurovision songs have been used as football anthems in the past. Jessy Matador's Allez Ola Olé ended up in 12th position at the 2010 Eurovision Song Contest in Oslo but became a football and summer hit in and around France right after the contest. It is one of the reasons why it is still one of the most watched songs on our channel.

Frans represented Sweden this year, but he became famous for singing a song about Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

LT United represented Lithuania at the 2006 Eurovision Song Contest with 'We Are The Winners'. Lithuania did not win the Eurovision Song Contest but the song was released in an adapted version for the World Cup in that year.

Another football hit was Gaitana's Be My Guest which was played regularly in Ukraine's stadiums during the European Cup in 2012.

Which Eurovision song from this year would be your anthem? Let us know in the comments!
